3 more weeks and I am going to be off on an adventure of a lifetime. Off to hike the entire length of the Appalachian Trail. 2174 miles. Beginning at Springer Mt. in northern Georgia to Mt. Katahdin located in Baxter State Park, Maine.
Nerves and doubts are flowing high at this point. Just the thoughts of "Am I prepared?, Do I have everything I need?, Can I face sleeping in a tent on and off for 5 to 6 months?, Can I stand to be away from friends, family, and my beloved Mark?" Yikes!!! All I can say at this point is time will tell, and I will try with every last bit of me to complete my dream. All I have to do is take it one week at a time, one day at a time, heck one mile at a time.
As of today my pack weighs in at 41 pounds!! A bit heavy for my taste, but what to get rid of? I might have to look into the food bag, and ditch some goodies I could really do with out. Maybe my sister will be nice enough to send the goods to me at a later date. Other than getting my pack weight down, all I have left is to silicone the sewn edges of my tent, waterproof spray my boots again, and train-train-train for 3 more weeks.
